This position is a permanent full-time position 38 hour per week, and includes: 

Salary package circa $77,000 per annum; Superannuation: 10.5%; 

6 weeks annual leave; 17.5% leave loading; 

Personal Development: $2500 

Belyuen Community Government Council is looking for a WORKSHOP MECHANIC who will be responsible for Councils operational services including: 

  • Day to day management of the Belyuen mechanical workshop and assets;
  • Coordination and scheduling of maintenance/repairs/registration;
  • Perform hands-on servicing, maintenance and repairs to light and heavy vehicles, small plant and large earthmoving equipment;
  • Apply workplace health and safety standards and advocate safe work practices;
  • Identify training needs and mentor staff; and,
  • Supply monthly reports to CEO on Asset/Plant Management;

 The desired applicant will have: 

  • Registered trade qualification in heavy vehicle mechanics or diesel fitting,
  • Licence/Machinery Operation Ticket;
  • Heavy Rigid Truck Licence;
  • Previous experience working in a remote community will be highly regarded;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Reliable – Punctual – Dependable; and,
  • Dynamic person with excellent communication skills.

This position will report to the Civil Works Manager and will be responsible for overseeing and mentoring an Apprentice Mechanic. The successful applicant must be willing to undergo a Police Check, be hands on and have appropriate experience/qualifications.
